One thing I strongly believe is that if we want to attract more businesses, investment, and new residents to California City, then the city itself must take a more active role in promoting and marketing our community in a positive and professional way.
Too often, people only hear negative things about California City. That hurts economic growth, discourages investment, and creates a poor public image that does not reflect the good people who live here or the potential our city still has.
If elected to City Council, I would support a city-initiated public relations and marketing effort focused on rebuilding confidence in California City and highlighting the advantages our community offers.
California City already has one major advantage:
We are strategically connected by the Highway 58 and Highway 14 corridor, giving us direct access between Southern California, Kern County, and neighboring regions. That location matters to businesses looking for affordability, accessibility, and room for growth.
But location alone is not enough. We also need to market ourselves better.
A positive city-driven PR and marketing effort can help by:
• Encouraging businesses to view California City as a place worth investing in
• Attracting new residents looking for affordable living and open space
• Promoting local events, recreation, and community involvement
• Highlighting available commercial and industrial opportunities
• Improving the city’s reputation and public image online and beyond
• Supporting tourism and travelers passing through the region
• Helping create jobs and stimulate our local economy
• Showing that California City is working toward progress and stability
• Building pride within the community itself
I would also like to work collaboratively with the local Chamber of Commerce, non-profit organizations, community groups, and initiatives like “I Love Cal City” to help create a professional promotional campaign for our city.
One idea I support is producing a powerful promotional video highlighting California City’s strengths, opportunities, scenery, businesses, events, and most importantly—the people who live here.
I would love to include testimonials from local residents, business owners, organizations, and community leaders discussing why they chose California City, why they stay here, and why others should consider investing or living here as well.
Positive exposure matters.
Cities across America market themselves every day. If we want growth, we must be willing to compete for attention, investment, and opportunity.
I believe California City has potential—but we need realistic leadership willing to actively promote the city while also being honest about the challenges we face.
Growth will not happen overnight, but with smart planning, consistent promotion, and community involvement, we can help move California City in a stronger direction.
