One thing I want voters in California City to understand is this: leadership requires realism, honesty, and an understanding of our city’s actual financial condition.
My opponent in this election has spoken about wanting to manifest the vision Nat Mendelsohn had for our city. I do not share that view. The story of Nat and his vision is good for history purposes and nothing more.
History shows that the original “vision” for California City turned into one of the largest land scandals in American history at that time. After that came other failed promises and more land sale scams like Silver Saddle. So, when politicians talk about recreating those grand visions, I think about deception, unrealistic promises, and people being sold dreams that never materialize.
Do I believe California City can grow? Absolutely.
But growth must be realistic, responsible, and based on the actual resources and capabilities we have today—not fantasy projections or promises that sound good during an election season.
We are a city facing serious financial challenges. We cannot afford leadership built on hype and impossible expectations. Unless this city suddenly hits the Powerball ten times over, some of these massive “visions” simply are not achievable. Why? Look into why he failed and his vision died. If you search online there is so many videos and articles on him and his vision vs the reality of what happened. Here is just one of many articles on this subject:

I’m running as a candidate who is realistic, optimistic, and focused on achievable progress. I believe in creating real plans with measurable goals—not just words, slogans, or intentions. That is why during this campaign I have stated some of my plans and path to achievement.
California City needs leadership that understands our financial reality, protects taxpayer interests, and focuses on practical solutions that actually improve daily life for residents.
